Food & Drink Logistics Ā· Canada-Wide
Storage and distribution built around how food actually works. Stock rotated by date code, traced by lot, kept apart from allergens it should not touch, and delivered with enough life left on it for your customer to accept it, the same controlled discipline behind our industrial logistics operations.

The Basics
Food logistics covers storing, picking and delivering food and drink, but the reason it is treated as its own discipline is that food carries obligations ordinary goods do not. Every pallet needs to be traceable to a lot, so that a problem found later can be tracked to its source and its destination, the same rigor we bring to our reliable manufacturing logistics clients. Stock has to rotate by date rather than by convenience, because the oldest product is the one that has to move first. Allergens have to be kept apart from products that do not declare them. And the whole operation has to be clean enough, and controlled enough, to satisfy inspectors who can arrive without notice. Temperature matters for part of the range, but plenty of food is ambient and still subject to all of the above.
Shelf Life
This is the rule that catches suppliers out most often, and it rarely appears in a contract discussion until it costs somebody a delivery. Most large retailers set a minimum amount of remaining shelf life that stock must have when it arrives, often expressed as a share of the product’s total life, a requirement we also see across our reliable hospitality logistics food service accounts. Deliver a product with less life left than the agreed figure and the whole load can be rejected at the door, even though it is entirely within date and perfectly saleable. That turns shelf life into a delivery requirement rather than a quality issue. Managing it means picking by expiry date rather than by which pallet is nearest, knowing before dispatch how much life each lot has left, and flagging stock approaching the threshold while there is still time to sell it somewhere else.

Whichever of these you produce, the same traceability rule applies, the kind of lot-level discipline shared with our healthcare logistics and reliable pharmaceutical logistics clients. Food businesses are expected to be able to trace a product one step back to whoever supplied it and one step forward to whoever received it, with records that can be produced when asked. In a warehouse that means capturing lot codes on receipt, keeping them attached through picking, and recording which lot went out on which delivery. It sounds administrative until a supplier issue appears and the question becomes which customers received the affected batch. Businesses that captured the data answer in an afternoon. Businesses that did not end up recalling far more than they needed to.
Food Safety
One step back and one step forward on every lot, retained and retrievable rather than reconstructed later.
Documented measures identifying where contamination could occur and what prevents it, with evidence they work.
Products containing allergens stored and handled so they cannot contaminate products that do not declare them.
An active, documented programme rather than a reaction when something is spotted.
Continuous records for chilled and frozen stock, retained as evidence conditions held.
A tested procedure for identifying and holding affected stock, because the time to work out the process is not during a recall.

Client Feedback
“We lost a full delivery to a retailer over remaining shelf life, on stock that was months inside its date. Picking by expiry rather than by whatever pallet was closest fixed it, and we have not had a load turned away since.”Ā

“A supplier flagged an issue with one batch of an ingredient and we needed to know within the day which customers had received it. We had the lot records, so the answer was a short list rather than everyone we had shipped to that month.”Ā

Food Safety Questions
Yes, and ambient is a large share of what we hold. Packaged groceries, snacks, canned and bottled drinks all need food sector handling without needing refrigeration.
By first expiry, first out, so the product with the least remaining life is picked before newer stock, regardless of where each pallet sits.
Most large retailers require stock to arrive with a minimum amount of its life left. Deliver below that threshold and the load can be rejected even though the product is within date.
Yes. Lot codes are captured on receipt and recorded against outbound deliveries, so a product can be traced one step back and one step forward.
Products containing allergens are stored and handled separately from those that do not declare them, with the separation documented rather than informal.
Yes, including booking delivery appointments and meeting the labelling and pallet requirements individual retailers set.
Affected lots are identified from the traceability records, held so nothing further ships, and reported to you with the destinations of anything already delivered.
Yes. Ambient, chilled and frozen can go out on the same delivery in separate zones rather than as three separate shipments.
